The Hingham Youth Soccer (HYS) Referee Scholarship recognizes referees who have served HYS throughout their High School years, lending their valuable experience to our program.  It is available to graduating Seniors who have served as referees for HYS for at least three of their four years in High School, including their Senior year and who will be pursuing a two or four year degree program at a college or university.

Qualified applicants will receive a one-time scholarship of $500.  The top Male and top Female recipients, based on the number of games refereed, the quality of the personal statement submitted, and the discretion of the selection board, will be selected as the Outstanding Referees and will be awarded an additional $500.

To be eligible, the attached application must be completed and returned by April 1, 2020.

Junior Referees will work the In-Town Senior Games (3rd and 4th grades) only. They will be mentored by seasoned referees.

To become part of the Junior Referee Program, login to your family Sports Pilot account and register.  You must be 12 years old as of Sept 1st.  The registration will include a training session and the referee equipment/uniform is purchased during the this time. 

Those registering for the Jr Ref Program should click on the link below to read thru the Laws of The Game - Made Easy.  This is a version of the USSF Laws for soccer made easier to understand for the younger referee.  The training session will include portions of this document and the assessment will cover items found in this document.

All CURRENT HYS Referees MUST follow these instructions to register with GAME OFFICIALS which is the Coastal League Referee assigning system.
