COACH EDUCATION COURSE DESCRIPTIONS

Licenses offered by Massachusetts Youth Soccer

Mass Youth Soccer believes that “the game is the greatest teacher” and that children will get better at soccer by playing, playing and more playing. We also believe that well-trained, resourceful coaches will enhance a child's enjoyment of this beautiful sport. To that end we have designed a series of coaching courses, each leading to a certificate or license that emphasizes proper coaching principles. We encourage you to take advantage of these courses.

Although there is no performance or written tests in the G, F or E courses, each involves several hours of activity. To get the most out of each course, participation in the practical, active sessions is strongly encouraged, but is not required. This activity is not physically rigorous, and lasts approximately one half of each course. Please note, attendants must be 16 years of age in order to attend courses, and receive license certification. 

Hingham Youth Soccer encourages all coaches to obtain the USSF G & F level Coaching Courses to our coaches. These courses are offered by the Mass. Youth Soccer Association and will be presented by Mass. Youth Instructors. Each course is a prerequisite for the next course.  These are offered all around the state so take advantage of a course near you.  

G License - 4 hours. This is the introductory course which is prerequisite for next course (F). This course is for novice or experienced coaches for U-6, U-8, U-10 and U-12 age groups. 

F License - 8 hours.  G course is prerequisite for this course. This course is for novice coaches or those with experience with U-8, U-10 and U-12 age groups. 

E License - 16 hours. F & G are prerequisite of this course.  This course is for the novice to intermediate coach with experience with U-10 to U-12 age groups.
